Top Ten Tuesday: Books I Picked Up On A Whim
Top Ten Tuesday is a really cool weekly meme created by The Broke And The Bookish! This is my third time making a top ten and I’m loving it! Top Ten Tuesday is one of my favourite things to blog about. This week’s topic: Books I’ve picked up on a whim. Read about my definition of “a whim” and, of course, the books down below!
Ten Books I Picked Up On A Whim (however you decide to interpret that (bought or read or something else) — I know most people read based on recommendation but we want to know those books you picked up without really hearing about or knowing much about!)
I don’t actually know what my personal definition of “a whim” is. Since it’s about books, I probably have a billion definitions. Sometimes it means that I see a book online I immediately put it on my TBR, but it can also mean I went to the bookshop without planning on buying anything, yet still leaving with something (that’s usually not even on my TBR!)
1. Beautiful Creatures by Kami Garcia & Margaret Stohl
I was at the movies and about to watching The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn (I think part two, but I’m not sure) and the movie trailer came on and I loved it! As soon as I got home, I checked it out and found the book. Not much later I was actually reading it.
2. A Thousand Pieces of You by Claudia Gray
Have you seen the stunning cover of this book? Ahhh! I found it online and I barely even finished reading the blurb when I added it to my TBR.
3. Harry Potter & the Philosopher’s Stone by J. K. Rowling
I’m going to count this as a “bookshop whim”, hehe! I’ve been wanting to read it for a while, but it definitely wasn’t a priority. (It still isn’t, it’s still on my shelf, unread… oops!) But I was at the bookshop and saw it and I just grabbed it and paid!
4. The Orphan Queen by Jodi Meadows
This is sort of a “whim” book, I guess? I saw this in my bookshop and I was in love! The cover was beautiful, the praises on the back sounded awesome, but I didn’t know what it was about! I left the bookshop still not knowing. Then searched it on Goodreads and I was interested in a second! Next time I went to the bookshop, though, I completely forgot what it was about. I still got it anyway!
5. Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead
This book is the definition of “a whim!” It wasn’t on my TBR and I wasn’t exactly planning on reading it at all. I watched the movie twice and I enjoyed it, but I wasn’t interested enough to get the book. Then I was at the bookshop and got it anyway! (On the same day I got Harry Potter, must’ve been a “whim”-day, hehe!)
6. The Iron Daughter by Julie Kagawa
I was in the bookshop a few days ago and told myself I wasn’t getting anything, but then I walked into some very pretty bookmarks from the Selection! (See Instagram for the photo) I felt a little bad getting them and leaving the store without buying anything, so I – finally – picked up a copy of The Iron Daughter.
What books did you pick up on a whim?
