Crier's War by Nina Varela | My Name's In A YA Fantasy!?
It’s been a really long time since I’ve written a review, but I guess it’s been even longer since I managed to read a book like this in only three (!!!) days?! I’m utterly in love with Crier’s War, its characters, the world, the f/f romance… Oh, did I mention the enemies-to-lovers element?! Basically, this book turned me into a sobbing mess because I just love it that much. Time for a review, don’t you think?

My Review
I’ve been pretty much obsessed with Crier’s War since I found out about its release sometime last year. First of all: the cover is absolutely gorgeous. Oh my goodness, just LOOK AT IT! Second of all; it has all my favourite things: a brand new fantasy world, a f/f enemies-to-lovers slow-burn romance, intriguing politics and even a main character who shares my name! although it’s pronounced differently. This book managed to grab my attention even when I wasn’t reading books and blogging about them, which is actually like… a really big deal, hehe!
Crier’s War was everything I expected and more. The enemies-to-lovers trope was executed so perfectly. Add some slow-burn, forbidden romance to the mix and you. have. me. sold! I love Ayla and Crier a lot as individuals. They’re both strong girls in their own unique ways and they’re very different, but they go really well together. I guess opposites attract? Their relationship felt natural and it was written beautifully.
There’s a lot of depth to Crier’s War, starting from page one. Crier’s and Ayla’s characters gave depth to them, but there’s this really interesting, well thought out timeline in the book which just grabbed my attention. It adds a bit of history to the story which turns out to be quite vital to the plot. This incredibly interesting world where Automa and humans are divided, was very well developed. It has culture, intriguing politics, history and so much more that just completes the bigger picture.
Nina Varela’s writing is stunning yet easy to follow. I absolutely loved how Crier’s and Ayla’s perspectives were written and the bits and pieces of history really added to the experience of reading the book. The plot moves quite fast and is full of action, but it’s never rushed or overwhelming. I’m utterly obsessed with Crier’s War and already cannot wait for the sequel!

If I could give Crier’s War all the stars in the galaxy… I WOULD! I’m utterly obsessed and gosh, I cannot wait for Iron Heart to come out! It’s been a very long time since I managed to finish a book this size in only three days, and the fact that I managed to write this review for it as well?! This book is MAGIC.
